Hi,

 

quite new to F360 so this might be an easy one.

 

I would like to re-use a sketch but on a different plane in such a way that any changes made to the first sketch are immediately reflected in the second one. Given I'd like this to be in the same component I'm not sure how to go about it. I've read through the forum and documentation, however wasn't able to find anything helpful.

 

I've tried to copy/paste the elements of the first sketch into the second sketch, however any changes are then not reflected in the pasted version. Not sure what else to try as I don't think components could be part of a component. How would I create the second sketch so that changes in the first one are reflected in all clones/copies? And is it possible to also clone sketches across multiple components?

 

As example, I would like to create a second 'bump' based on the highlighted face of the component (and thus need to clone the original sketch with the arc on the left) so that if I change the original sketch, all other sketches adjust.

I think you are over thinking the problem, use the same sketch.

Apologies for the slow reply.

 

I've uploaded my design 🙂

 

The final aim is to be able to extrude the sketch from every face, sometimes longer, sometimes shorter.

Sorry for the late reply.

 

I like your idea of creating the sketch in the middle and then extruding symmetrically. However, my aim is to extrude the sketch from every face so I'm not sure how that would help. I would still have to copy the sketch, then rotate so I'm back at the same issue.

Set a parameter for the curve radius or diameter.

Use the parameter in each sketch.

 

Each sketch will cut a floor groove so it can be done efficiently.

We cannot handle changes such as making each sketch a completely different shape, but if the change is only a change in size, reusing the dimensional parameters is a good way to go.

Name the dimension in the LongBump sketch and refer to it in the ShortBump sketch.

For example, you can change the dimensions like this.

If you change the dimensions of the LongBump, the shape of the ShortBump will follow suit.

Will this achieve what you want to do?
