Trying to make a cut

Hi I'm new to CAD/CAM in general and enjoying Fusion 360.  Anyway, following this tutorial, http://help.autodesk.com/view/fusion360/ENU/#sketch

In the video "Model", at 2:50 the presenter is showing creating a cut whereby a circle extrudes itself as empty space makinga  hole through the entire part on the screen.

However I don't have the "cut" option on my circle.  Am I doing something wrong?

(attached screenshot of what I see, without the "Cut" option when extruding)

Are you in the original active Component?

Can you File>Export your *.f3d file to your local drive and then Attach it here to a Reply?

Think you're in the patch workspace you need to be in the model workspace for the cut option to show.

Thank you each for responding.  I've looked at it again but am still unable to make it work.  Here is the attached file .f3d file and a larger screenshot showing the rest of the screen.

Nothing wrong with the file I received,

Cutting the hole works as expected, can't see a reason for the error.

When you open Extrude and move the cursor inside the small circle, it should highlight, light colour with dark outline in my system,

click that hightlighted circle turns blue, and the direction arrow is provided, when you pull to the right, it will turn into cut red profile automatically,

might help.

I have a feeling your "select through" option is not enabled in selection filters...

Since your sketch is occluded inside the solid, having this option un-checked will prevent you from selecting sketch geometry.

In your screenshot the direction is wrong, try the flip option. If you're still unable to make it work can you download Screencast and record what you're doing.

Here's a screencast that shows what i think is wrong.

Turn on your sound.

@TheCADWhisperer Good spot. I can see any way to get the patch extrude while in the Model workspace though, starting the command and switching workspaces cancels the command and editing a patch extrude while in the model workspace still shows the feature in the timeline. One suggestion would be close and restart Fusion, if that doesn't fix it try rebooting your computer.

I see, had no idea I was in a similar but distinct dialogue box.  Not sure how it happened.  After shutting down 360 and starting again it was fine, was able to cut through the part.  Thanks for the screencast & explaining the dynamics of these screens.

Hmm, that gave me an idea - wouldn't it be nice if these Glyphs were added to the dialog.

In fact, the New Body glyph in the Operation for Patch just seems like that might be wrong to me.

This could be true in all of the Patch vs Model Operations?
