Trying to insert another design into current design crashes the program.

HI,

I have one design which is crashing my computer when I go to insert it as a component in another design in the usual manner.

Inserting other designs works fine but when I put this one in, it crashes every time.

Any thoughts anyone?

Crashes the -computer- or crashes f360?

1) I've had more than a few f360 crashes I think most likely caused by leaning on the RAM too hard running too many progs at the same time.

2) I'm not much familiar with a360 so I don't know what the 'yellow' means. From my limited experience red and yellow flags often imply error. Importing an error may cause severe collision that the software can't deal with so it explodes. Triple check browser lists for error items.

Hello,

Can you attach the .f3d file directly to the forums or email it to me at the email below?  The link you provided won't let me download the file until it is done translating, why it isn't done after 3 hours I am not sure, but I want to look at the crash issue so that I may be able to get you productive again.

Cheers,

It crashes the software only. The computer is loaded with good ram so no issues there. It wont let me upload the archive as file size is too big. I have experimented with deleting parts of the design in case any of the elements were causing problems, but it still crashes the main design when I try and insert. Its only tht one tht does it, I can insert any other design without issue.

If you are willing to add me to the project I can grab the files that way and help test the crash for you from there.  If not I can wait for the translation on the link you have above.

Hi Pendlej,

Thanks for sharing the model.

Yes, we are able to reproduce the crash on Insert. We have logged defect for the same and are looking into it.

Hello,

We believe we have identified a fix for this issue, but we are still in the process of verifying it and determining when we can safely get it into the product.  I will update things here when we know which update it will be going into.

Cheers,

Hello,

I have spoken with the developer that fixed the crash on insert issue to see if he was able to gleam out any potential recommendation or things to avoid in a model so this won't occur.  Unfortunately we are not sure what features or workflows are causing this behavior, so we will have to wait until our fix is put into a hotfix to resolve the crash.  With our desire to keep the product up to date and provide fixes in a timely manner, this shouldn't be too far away.

That being said, if you are able to send me a copy of the new dataset that is crashing on insert, I can verify it internally to make sure that when our hotfix goes out, this file as well will insert correctly.

Cheers,

Please take a look at your insert issue again.  The latest update that we pushed last night should have a fix for your insert issue.

Let me know if things are working correctly now or if you are still having issues.

Cheers,

Just tested it and it worked flawlessly. Many thanks indeed!

I cannot praise this forum and the efforts of all the people enough! A real true example set for all other software companies.
