trouble moving a particular ellipse

I've used fusion 360 quite a few times in the past, however, just after this last update i have had some trouble moving one of my sketches. I created a series of ellipses for a loft and after moving about three elipses upward on the z axis, the last ellipse just would not move. The small center dot moves up, but for some reason the ellipse does not follow with it. I deleted the ellipse and tried again with a different ellipse and it still would not move upward after selecting it and using the move command. I'm wondering if this is a bug, if i'm incorrectly selecting the ellipse, or if i just accidentally clicked a wrong button which restricted me from moving the ellipse. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

would you be willing to post a screencast of what you are seeing, or even better, share your design?  What you are describing is not the expected behavior, and may be a Fusion bug, so we'd like to dig into it and solve it.

Thanks,

Jeff

Thanks for the document @Anonymous.  It looks like there may be a bug, but I'd like to see the design to be sure.  It could be that there is another point there that is getting moved, or that the ellipse is locked somehow (if its center point is on the sketch origin, it is definitely locked in place).

If you could share your design, it would be easier to try to figure out what you are seeing.

thanks,

Jeff

Thanks for sharing the design, that helps a lot.

I know what is going on.  When you create a sketch, the point at the origin is defined to be a fixed point.  You can see this from a new sketch:

fixed origin point.png

If you create a circle or ellipse that uses this point, its center point will also be fixed.  You can see the same thing with a line.  If one endpoint of the line uses the center point, you will be able to move the other end, but not the fixed end.  This is also the case in your design.  You can break this by selecting the center point, and choosing "Delete Concident".  This command breaks the connection between the ellipse center and this fixed origin point.

Here is a screencast showing how I was able to move this ellipse.  I had to do the command twice, because you also have a center point rectangle that uses the fixed origin point:

Hope this helps

Jeff

That completely explains it, thanks for your time and for that thourough explanation. I ran into that problem quite a few times throughout the course of doing that project so that will help out a lot for future designs.
