Trim questions

I am trying to use the trim feature and I can't seem to make it work.  I have a square and a circle sketched on the same plane and they are partially overlapped, I can select the trim function, but it just doesn't do anything.  Nothing gets highlighted and when I try clicking on the part of the circle I want gone it just selects the circle.  What am I doing wrong?  I have watched every video I can find on this but none offer a solution.

I made that as a space claim model simple to look for interferences. I have those links in hand. That it doesn't work in the model isn't an issue.

That was just one quick example - I see other issues.

I appreciate the help so far. I have at least some idea of what to do and to heed the warnings more directly. IF there is a time when you could help, I would be interested.

Bump this thread back to the top on Wednesday (even if you have completed and moved on to the next project).

Yes, I agree. A redo correctly will be an investment to reduce future frustration. I'm in.

You have caught me at a bad time.

I can look at this later in the afternoon. I agree that a re-do is on order.

1. When symmetry applies, only sketch half of what you need. Extrude (in his case) the geometry and then mirror the geometry or features, not sketch entities.

2. Minimize filleting in a sketch and use the solid filleting feature.

much simpler way of doing it for sure. I am a person who got started on velum. Solid modeling is a rough for me sometimes.
