trim and offset - Sketch mode

I spent a fairly productive day yesterday on some sketching and resultant modeling, and left some sketch work in the model to be cleaned up today. I find when I resumed work today on this model (saved and closed yesterday), that I am apparently unable to trim or offset day-old sketch lines, but Trim and Offset seem to work fine on "fresh" lines.

I have checked to make sure that the old work and new work are in the same plane, so that doesn't appear to be an issue. Am I nuts and/or completely clueless, or is there something here? The day-old lines can be selected when a command is not active, but the right-click menu after selection doesn't offer Trim or Offset.

Hi,

Would you be willing to share your design?  I'd be happy to take a look to see what might be going on.

best regards,

Hi -- Thanks for the response. I can't share the design at this time, but I have been working on other aspects in the meantime, as well as waiting on colleagues to finalize the conceptual aspect of the design where I had the above problem. Changes may render the specifics moot, but if I see this again, I'll see if it can be duplicated in some manner.

If sketch entities (lines, arcs etc.) are part of pattern you will not be able to trim them before you remove pattern constraint.
