Transparent Materials Problem

Hi.

When I give a material transparency, I'm not able to see other materials of bodies that are coincident with the transparent body. Instead, the transparent body shows straight through to the environment. Is this normal? I have a design with layered materials and the outer bodies/layers are slightly transparent whilst the inner layers have colour - but its as if they're not there.

Is it something to do with faces being coincident? Does there need to be a gap?

This is the same in the model workspace, in renders, and in my SimLab COLLADA DAE exports.

Thanks

@jsmPGF5C, Can you provide some more details?  I tried a very simple case:  Two blocks, one transparent (glass), and one with a red glossy paint applied, with the top faces coincident.  It seems to me that the results are correct:

Can you attach your model here, and maybe provide some screen shots of what you are seeing?

I also can't produce the problem described.

Two components with coplaner faces...

Thanks for your replies. Sorry - I should've been more specific. It works as expected with the glass and plastic textures, but I'm trying to add translucency to the generic fabric texture and it doesn't seem to do much. I can slightly see through it materials that are a bit further away, but not the ones directly behind it.

Is there a way to adjust the transparency of any material, including fabric?

Thanks
