Happy new year everybody, may 2020 reserve some thrills.

I am an upholsterer looking for help with drawing furniture, I have had some training to get an idea and have been able to draw most of what I need but here and there I struggle a lot with some aspects, especially the rake and curved shapes of chairs frames and how to create some sort of skin on top of the frame to represent the upholstery. Anyone out there interested or know someone who would be interested in giving some lessons, online or present, I am open to offers/ideas, I am based in Croydon, South London. English or Portuguese language.

I was thinking about doing more advanced training but I believe something more specific would be more $worthwhile$.

Attached is a small example.

Many thanks in advance.

Alex

Hi @AlexGallis ,

Could you please attach the .f3d file so we can see where you are at? Or maybe you haven't stared yet?

Cheers / Ben

In case we cannot sort these issues out in this thread Ido offer private tutoring lessons (online/Skype).

PM me oof interested.

But let's see first if we can guide you without having to resort to that.

Your timeline indicates that you are missing some key concepts , which would help you quite a bit. For example most of the move operations should really not be needed.

Hi @TrippyLighting and thank you, yes my timeline tends to look a bit messy, but it is way better than a few months ago. I guess I am still figuring it out my "best" way to sketch and draw, mostly I work with decorative wall panels which is much easier and simpler but more and more I need to draw chairs for proposal to clients and then the frames for my frame maker.

Would you elaborate a bit more about the key concepts I am missing out, I didn't set any parameters on this drawing so I ended up moving things here and there to make it look the way I wanted dimensionwise ...
