Total height of several flanges

Hello everyone,

 

just started with a sheet metal workflow and even after watching a number of tutorials still getting stuck with very basic things...

 

Trying to create a simple fully parametric bracket:

It consists of three flanges - top, left and bottom. So I created a sketch for the top one (with all holes), then created the top flange from the sketch and added two remaining flanges.

 

My problem - I have no idea how to achieve a specific height of the bracket (from the surface that the bracket stands on and to the top face of the top flange), especially if I change the angle for the side flange. And, of course, changing a material/rules will change the height of whole structure as well...

 

I would greatly appreciate if someone can point me at proper direction...

You can create it from a side view sketch like this. For the height dimension I entered 75mm - d1 to take into accout the material.

You can also do something similar if you want to add to an existing flange. See attached file.

Yes, this approach allows me to do what I wanted, but (unfortunately) in the expense of other things...

 

The real bracket I need looks more-less like this:

 

TestBracketFull.jpg

With my approach I can create it very easily, don't need to create those miters (and some other stuff) manually, the flange function takes care of everything. Only issue here (but the critical one) - have no idea how to set the height...

 

Your approach solves the height problem immediately, but right now I'm not sure yet how to recreate this bracket in "your" way...

Experimenting a bit more and found you can use a single sketch to create the three flanges at the angle and lenght of the sketch line. See attached file.

Mark,

 

I barely finished the bracket using your "sin()" approach (worked great, thank you !) as you posted one more way to do !

 

Seems this last way probably the most elegant one, but I'm a bit confused - don't understand how exactly did you manage to create three flanges from one sketch... Do you mind adding a few more words of explanation ?

 

P.S. Sorry for stupid questions - it's just a week since I started playing with Fusion, and I have no previous experience with anything similar...

I first selected the 3 edges then just select the line. If you edit the flange in the file I attached and press Ctrl you'll see what's selected.
