Too many bodies?

I imported a large STP file, and I can't expand the Bodies in the tree. I get:

It's hard enough for my machine to work with such a large file, but when I can't access individual bodies, it's even harder. (Yes I can SEE them all).

Not sure what s/w exported the model, but is there maybe something I can ask the creator to do, in order for the product structure to come through in the STP?

@patmat2350

That information will be in the header of the file (open with Notepad).

Can you zip (not rar) and Attach the original STEP file here?

Cannot. 1.7GB file, and it's proprietary data.
WordPad could open it (barely), header is not very informative:
/* originating_system */ '',

Consider this:

Fusion 360 is a Cloud based system. Data that will be saved into the data panel will be uploaded.

When you open it it has to be downloaded.

A 1.x GB file will take a long time to do either. Have you watched the memory consumption of Fusion 360 while you open the file ?

Hmm? Yep, it's a big file, and it takes a bit to open and save it. Wish the file creator had broken it up somehow. But I would extract what I need as design input to my own new files.
I see I have the option to convert the 22000 bodies to Components, yikes, but even if that doesn't crash the system I don't know if it would be useful.  I suspect that the many original components have turned into dozens of separate unconnected brep bodies each.

Aha!
I started deleting bodies through window selections to create smaller files to work with, and somewhere around 7000 bodies the F360 tree finally became expandable!

So F360 seems to have a limit to how many bodies it will list (show) in the tree.

@patmat2350 - you are correct - There is a limit, beyond which, Fusion will not show the browser entries.  I thought it was 5,000, but it could be 7,000.  That is because the time to simply draw all the browser entries would be so high that it would be impossible to work with.  You can also use body groups to help here.  You can select bodies in the graphics area (after setting your selection filter to Bodies), and add subsets of them to a group.  I think the limit is for any single browser parent, so this can be another way to segregate the data to help.  However...  You will still have 22,000 entries somewhere in the browser, so you may still have performance issues.  If you can delete the bodies you don't need, that is certainly a preferable way to handle this case.
