timeline features fully missing

My student has a Lenovo 50-70 laptop with Win 8.1

and in his timeline you can see all icons are missing.

You see when I log into his account via my computer all is fine.

So I heavilty assume that either Fusion is not able to render the interface right,

all the text is terrible in MS Win8.1, or that MS Win 8.1 one is one of the worste UIs

for font and interface rendering.

Any iodea how to fix this? This situation is unworkable for him.

Yes. We have started to see more problems with high res windows displays.  This machine is running with the font setting set to 200% causing ui elements to scale up in size.

While OSX has very rbust retina display support built into how applications fucntion on high DPI density displays, windows does not.

We are evaluating internaly how to address this. In the mean time running at 1080p resolutions and text at 100% display size will improve things greatly.

so that is what we did.

We changed a scale setting (250 %) in Windows display which made everything small, and then we set the display to 1900*something so that everything was bigger.

Now all looks good. Windows is really a terrible platform.
