Tight twist with connecting profiles

Hi!

I am trying to figure out how to make a 180 degrees tight twist on a slightly bent link. Attached file is the link without the twist. I would like twist of the profile to start and end at one quarter of the link (top right corner) and was hoping to divide the path (move the end point for the path that will guide the twist), then use the sweep command and thereafter combine the objects from the two sweeps.. but I don't know how to do that on the 3D sketch with the bent curve. I was also thinking about creating two "twisting" paths in the 3D sketch and then use the loft command but that seams super tricky. Any ideas?

Many thanks

Hi ,
for your model idea the better way made it in t-spline environment
for divide the path you need a script

Sweep with 3d rails, you may have to tweak the top tangent handles to smooth the path.

Hi! My mistake @TrippyLighting , didn't think it though properly since I also should have mentioned that the profile should not only twist but also change in dimension (scaled up in one direction). That is why I have been trying to figure it out using the loft command instead of sweep.

Sweep with Path and Guide rail, handled the profile change, in my example.

Many thanks for showing a way to handle a profile change. However, in the loft command I had set profile scaling to stretch and using the sweep command with path and guide rail will scale the whole profile. Sorry for not highlighting it, very easy to miss. I tried adding the second profile and thereafter loft them but get a message saying bad geometry.

Also, thank you for showing a great example on how to navigate in a 3D sketch, very helpful.

Thank you for your suggestion @aliobidi

I haven’t worked much with T-splines before but will look into that.

Loft Command does not have profile manipulation, but Sweep does.

Loft uses two or more profiles, Sweep uses one, but it can be modified as guided by rails,

Would need your new file to sort out the Loft error/s
