Tie Rod Assembly to frame

Hello,

Im looking to assemble this tie rod I've created that is going to be assembled  in between two joints, a hub and steering column.

The points are not in line hence the ball joint.

Ideally I want to fix one end to the joint on the hub and then select the other end and get fusion 360 to work out the angles etc.

The tie rod Ive made has a ball joint and the threaded piece is on a slider joint but it doesn't seem to work. Or do what I want it to do.

Any help appreciated.

Can you File>Export your *.f3d file to your local drive and then Attach it here to a Reply?

you can only export as f3z file because you have linked files in your assembly.  these types of files are a pits for others who are trying to help b/c of a lot of extra file download and up load.  and then tidying things up after (cause we really don't want to keep those files) becomes a chore

break all the links to external components in your model, then you will be able to export as .f3d

Okay I understand. Ive broken most but cannot break some on the wheel because of the pattern I have.

Is there a way around this?

When I go into the wheel I can even break the links that are shown.Screenshot 2020-08-05 at 17.09.05.png

Hello,

I would really appreciate some help with this I can't break up the entire model as that seems to create a bunch on warnings and I'm scared I won't be able to get my model back to normal.

If anyone is willing to download and help that would be appreciated, I understand its more effort because you have to download all the parts.

Kind Regards,

S

hmmm...look, not sure what your seeing is a problem.  in the screen cast I unlinked everything.  the position capture failed (but shouldn't have been there anyway).  I had to apply a ground and ridged constraint to the "tie rod" that was nested in the "tie rod" (a bit confusing)

nesting multiple components can sometimes cause confusion as to what is being joined to what.  take a look and maybe clarify what your having trouble with.  also attached file from the screen cast
