Threaded rod joined to offset threaded hole in pipe

I have two components.  The first component is a pipe with a threaded hole in it offset like a chord through the pipe.  The second component is a threaded rod.  How can I get the threaded rod to join with the pipe through the offset threaded hole.

you are probably going to have to create some helper geometry, most likely a sketch.  I recorded a screencast, which I'll post when it is finished, of one way to do this.
