Thicken or Shell?

What is the best way to hollow out this pot making the inside of the pot smooth (i.e. not jagged), with a minimum thickness of 4 mm? Shell? Thicken? Not sure how to do this.

Thanks.

Your best bet is to use a Revolve Cut in my opinion.  The inner side wall contour is by eye but it is pretty close to what you want.  Model is attached.

Thanks. I didn't know how to access the middle of the pot to do the revolve. How do I get it back whole again after this operation?

Thanks.

You mean remove what you asked for or simply turn off the Analysis Section View?  If it is the Section View, you toggle in on and off in the Browser.  If it is the hollowing out, why did you ask to hollow it out in the first place?

I'm getting an error in my slicer. When I move it, it shows separate bodies...the outside, and 4 of the smooth inside bowls/pots. Are they not 1 solid body?

Just used Combine. All's well.

Thanks.

You do have a few extra bodies in your model. Probably were used along the way for your development.  Body 16 seems to be the only one you need in the final model.  Be sure if you decide to get rid of the others that you highlight them and right click and use the REMOVE command, not Delete.

I'm trying to thicken the bottom by 2 mm. I get an error when I try to combine all bodies. Where should I add thickness to the bottom properly? At the initial shelling out sketch, before the revolve, changing the bottom thickness?

The model you attached to your latest question is torn all to pieces.  I used the one I created for you originally.  All you have to do is edit the Offset Construction Plane from a value of -4 to -6 to add 2mm to the bottom thickness.  If the current model is some other creation, I have no idea what you are trying to do.  I save the model with the Section Analysis on.  Model is attached.

I am having 2 issues with the version of the project. First, the fill operation has a yellow warning. Is that anything?

Also, slicing the project results in an error because there are redundant objects. So I tried to combine them, but that also gives an error. So I only selected Obj 16, and it seems to work, with no loss of data. Is that the solution?

Thanks.

Did you like my solution on how to thicken the bottom?  Nice to see if you like it or not before diving into another question, kinda gives me a purpose for investing my time and talent.

I am not the one you were talking about as far as slicing and preparation of 3D Printing but Body 16 is the only one used in the final model.  We covered this in an earlier post where I mentioned you could REMOVE the other bodies.
