Text on path, finally! But...

...but you can't put text upright on the outside of a closed path? It looks like you can only put text on the inside with the path as a baseline, or the outside with the path at ascender height.
So close, and yet! Am I missing something about how to do this? I tried with both a circle and an arc, and there seems to be no way to get text on top of the arc.

Hello,
1. position below and on the line works as well as centering and length distribution
2. text on closed contour (e.g. circle) works, but not its positioning > 12  / 6 or 3

Use an offset of the curve equal to the ascender/decender height.
