Text on a curve (non linear shape).....Will we see this????

I am just checking to see if Fusion 360 will add the functionality of placing text on a curve (non linear shape)?

I know there are some work around but I am looking for direct ability within Fusion 360, with no work around, to save time. 

Using another software to create it and then jumping back to Fusion 360 is time lost. Constrain each individual letter to the shape of geometry is time lost.

It's not hard to put text on a curve or spline if you don't mind a few

extra objects left over   If I had used a different sketch than the one used to create a body to use in the Pattern on Path, then there would only be the text showing.

It would be nice, but there are a lot of other features I consider more important for the development team to address.

F360 isn't intended for graphic design, or page layout, or stuff like that.

Hi Bryan,

1. I totally agree with @chrisplyler .
2. You are declaring 2 proceedings as „...timelost " and therefore inappropriate. I am only looking at the use of an external application.
If there is a loss of time, it is in the export/import of the graphic into Fusion.
I have tested the process and can say that it never takes longer than 90 seconds.
Workarounds I've seen in Fusion so far I wouldn't use given the alternatives available.
Currently I use the "Gravit Designer" for such things because the created graphic can be exported and imported without post-processing or conversion.

I would personally align with Mr Bryan Lagrange. I have a slight feeling of why Fellows are let's say,… so pessimistic |;-).

People have learnt writing techniques thousands of years ago if not earlier. Why stop this technology advancing process?

F360 is just another canvas. Yes, it is possible to do some external tricks but this does not resonate well with the name of the software and much more they might not always be straightforward, even possible or offer an automatic design workflow. Also, advances in hardware (3D printing, lasers, etc.) make rendering text objects accessible to masses so a fusion of text should be a good direction.

The current implementation of textObject in F360 (I try to be gentle here) is less than to be desired, but also those who 'sniffed' Microsoft respective code knows that there are patchy areas which in terms makes a higher-level implementation of fonts/text challenging.

I would also like a more direct way of doing text on a curve (or other path).

I frequently need to engrave customer part numbers on machined parts. 90% of the time I can use straight line text. But when I am engraving the ends of round parts I prefer to have the text follow the curvature of the part.

From my previous CAM software I am missing two engraving features when I switched to Fusion, Stick Fonts and Text on a Path. They released the stick fonts last year, so the only engraving feature I am still missing is the text on a path.

I can continue to use work arounds, but a direct option would be appreciated.
