Text Not Extruding Completely on Solid Surface

I'm trying to extrude text on a solid surface but running into an issue where the text isn't extruding completely on a certain character (specifically the capital "A").

The font I'm using is  InterTight-Light.ttf.

If I explode the text then extrude the whole sketch:

If I select the whole text, then deselect the inner shapes and extrude:

Is this the only way to fix this issue? Exploding the text is not ideal if I need to edit it in the future.

Probably so.  If you will notice the overlap of geometry in the Exploded text is a good sign it is a poorly created font.
