Symmetric change in parameters

Hi,

I have two boxes on each side of a line. The line and the distance to the boxes i added as user parameters and set the start of the box as a coincident, hence if I change the size of the line the position of the boxes change. My problem is however that the change is not symmetric and hence only one of the boxes changes position, the other one does not. Does anybody know a way to set up Fusion360 to make changes in parameters symmetrical instead of unidirectional?

Thanks!

Hi @Anonymous,

Can you please share your design or at least a screencast of what you are trying to do?  I think there is certainly a way to make this work, but I admit I am a little unclear about exactly what you are trying to achieve.

thanks,

Jeff

Are you talking about the sketch environment?

If so, I've pasted a couple of screenshots below. By drawing a horizontal line that I've dimensioned, and then using Symmetry on the endpoints of the line, about the projected x-axis, updating the dimension would be produced symmetrically. I've added two squares on either side of the line, used a coincident constraint from vertical edges of the square to the endpoints of the line. Finally, I've placed symmetry constraints between the horizontal lines of the squares and the original line.

If it's not quite what you were asking, I hope the concepts at least help.
