Symbols on spline edit

I am editing a 2D spline in a sketch (i.e. not a T-Spline) and some of the points have symbols against them. Clicking the symbols doesn't do anything. Image atached - can anyone explain what these are (to the left and right of the lowermost point)?

Thanks. Julian

Those are sketch constraints, look at the sketch panel to see what each one is.

Thank you. A related question. When I move fit points on a spline, other symbols sometimes appear. The triangle, I guess, is letting me know that the fit point is at a mid point. However, sometimes an X appears as I move the point. This doesn't seem to be a constraint on the pallette. Any idea what this is? Also, some of the movement handles are green and some, blue. What does this indicate?

Thanks very much for any help. I've looked through the documentation but can't find the answers.
