I would have to agree and disagree!
Using the sweep command creates these separate surfaces and with the sweep based workflow, indeed, the "lines" cannot be removed, or be avoided. That is only one of the problems with the sweep command.
However, the lines can be completely avoided with an admittedly more laborious workflow.
Depending on the needed outcome, I would use a different modeling approach because the sweep command creates bad surface quality, easily observable when using the appropriate inspection tools:
Analysis->Isocurve Analysis

Analysis->Curvature Map

In this case the bad surface quality might not create a problem when applying a fillet, but in more complex situations it can and has created problems!
