Sweep on two different planes

Good day folks. I’m a hobbiest using Fusion 360 to make kids toys/games for my grandkids.

 

 I’m trying to create a “ramp” into which a marble enters on a down slope, goes around a 90 degree turn then continues down an exit slope in the opposite direction. I’ve tried to set up two opposite planes using the “two lines” command and creating a sweep from each end to meet in the middle but without success. I’m sure there must be an easier way.

 

Sorry, can’t offer a model as I haven’t been able to get one to work well enough. I would be really pleased to get a solution. Sorry, just for clarity, some of my components including this one, are 3D-printed.

Step along the timeline, I extruded top view of the path, and split the body with the 20 degree ramp, 

Made a hollow Pipe, on the ramp edge, and used the same cutter to make the top half disappear.

Yes, through 180 degrees but it has to be a rounded turn and the turn also needs to continue the downward angle. The example you show would not guarantee that a marble would continue on its way.

The way that would work best would be to have a sweep that results in a smooth flow. The actual application of the sweep would be to “bore” a passage through a body where the marble goes in one end and comes out in the opposite direction 10mm lower down.

Tomorrow (my time) I could probably post a screen shot of where I’ve got to but it’s really not a clever or functional example.

For a drop of 10mm, and a constant ramp, 

same techniques, just different shapes.

the sheetmetal workspace is an easy way to get a constant slope down the entire run. see attached model-

Thanks for all the responses. The reply from laughingcreek is really cool and I’ll investigate that a bit further - never considered using sheet metal in this application.

It is apparent though that I haven’t made the goal as clear as I could have. My intent is not to create an external ramp but rather a “tunnel” that will cut through a solid body. I would be excited to see what the boffins can produce. I’ll post a picture of what I’m trying to achieve during today.

I’ll spend some time on the replies so far and learn lots. Thanks guys.

So this is an example of where I need to go. I made this by hand out of hardwood. My marble races are a combination of materials (wood, stainless steel, 3D prints) and I want to make the little carousel in 3D.

Hope this is clearer.

File > Export, Save it to the hard drive.

 

In the forum page, below the message window, is the Attachment box, click on the Browse Link, Select the saved file.

 

Tunnel is the same process, using a Path and solid Pipe (as a Cut), through your material.

or making as 2 bodies, you can Combine > Cut one from the other.

@wersy : I followed the video, created a 3D path using the angles I need and when I tried the Sweep, I got an error message that said "The start direction of a path segment is antiparallel to the end direction of the previous path segment".

So I ran a sweep with "chain selection" switched of and got a sweep that went 50% around the path and no further. So I ran a second sweep from the other end of the path and it joined up seemingly OK but still not as easy as your example.

Could this be because your example has everything running parallel and/or perpendicular (i.e. all angles are 90 degrees)?
