Sweep of a Self Intersecting Spline in the Patch Workspace

Hello all,

I made a sketch using splines that copied some cursive handwriting. Needless to say, much of the geometry is self intersecting. I could not get the sweep funciotnality to work in the modeling workspace because of this, but in the patch workspace, it seemed like it would work. When I started the sweep feature, and designated my profile and curve, it displayed the resulting geometry. However, when I hit "OK", the feature did not display properly. The file is attached. Any suggestions?

Intersecting surfaces is a limitation of sweep.  A possible work around would be to take it in sections.  See screen cast.
