SVG are not importing at the proper scale.

I am having trouble figuring out the whatnot of importing SVGs.

If I make a 100mm wide object in CorelDraw and export it as an SVG that imports into CorelDraw or InkScape as 100mm wide, why in the world would it import into Fusion 360 at 91mm wide? This is bizarre.

I have been playing with exporting SVGs from CorelDraw for a while and I always have to scale them, it does not make sense.

Does anyone have some experience understanding SVG scale import issues? Thanks.

Can you attach an example SVG. It all depends what units are in the file, Fusion just imports 1 unit in the SVG as one unit in the document for example if the SVG is in inches and your document in Fusion is mm 1 inch will come in as 1mm.

The sizes you're seeing are a bit odd though, most examples I've seen are in either pixels or points and are way to big, see this threadWhat you're seeing doesn't match so I'm not sure what's going on, see this thread for a workflow that might help.

Thanks a lot for your reply.

I started off using SVG because I thought it was more "feature ladened" but
now I am only using DXF since it seems to work "right" every time and
maintains proper 1:1 scaling. Do you know, is there a reason to use SVG
over DXF?

I read your "Getting any Text and SVG file into Fusion 360 to work."
and I wonder, do you know where the scale factor 0.044 comes from that you
use? I JUST want to understand!

Thanks again for your reply.

Insert DXF has only been in Fusion for a couple of weeks before that SVG was the only quick way to get curves into a sketch. Now we have insert DXF I'd say use that if you can, if the units are in the dxf it will insert at the correct size also for each layer in the dxf Fusion will make a sketch.

I didn't do the tips thread "Getting any Text and SVG file into Fusion 360 to work" so I don't know where that scale factor came from, may be ask in that thread. From the files I've seen my thread "Import SVG scale" works for files in points or pixels but SVG can have other units, the only way to know would be to look in the file.
