Stuck on a basic...How do I move this sketch circle up?

Hi there,

I'm creating a know for my Behringer X-Touch controller..using this video to help:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-BHRdHFmdg

But I'm stuck on something I know is very simple..I just don't know how to do it.

I am going to cut a loft from a bottom 1mm circle up to a top 1mm circle...that part will be fine...but I only want this to start from 5mm up...not from the base circle.

I already have an extruded section 5mm up but I can't for the life of me figure out how to draw a circle on that 5mm up extrusion. I tried creating an offset plane 5mm up..but then when I go to paste...it doesn't paste into the same spot..so it isn't centred.

I also tried creating a sketch on the 5mm up extruded section...but I can't click on that face...I can only click on the edge..but then I can't draw a sketch there.

Could someone please explain how I get my 1mm sketch circle onto the 5mm up section please. Thank you!

Here is a picture that explains my confusion!

Ok..after 30 minutes of experimenting I managed to create an offset plane...and then move this 5mm up..I could then create another 1mm circle..so that did the job.

Interestingly the "Move" sketch option didn't work very well for some reason..it was "glued" to the bottom and tried to shift all the geometry of the body...I then also tried to use the "Create a copy"...but this was greyed out.

I also am not sure why I can't click on the face of an extrusion and create a sketch there....all of these things no doubt incredibly simple...but a challenge for us beginners! Thanks!

Is the Cut a simple cylindrical cut (To be paterned later) around the truncated cone that is the knob body?

Ah I see in his video...I think he has left the bottom cylinder as a separate body the truncated cone which allows selection of the top of that cylinder to Sketch on. Is that how you have done it?

Yeah..he effectively went down..where I had already gone up! Anyway the offset plane going up 5mm got me there! Not sure why I found it so difficult to move the sketch up...may have been constrained to the other circle I'm thinking now.

Anyway I got there! Just now fiddling with the size of the plug hole as there is a bit of guess work and test printing to get that spot on so it fits on nicely. But will now be able to have coloured Behringer X-Touch controller dials!

Thank you!
