STL import fails

Hi!

I have a small problem with importing an STL file. Normally importing STL-files is not a problem. I have a file made in openSCAD, which I need to get into Fusion. As Fusion cant import openscad directly I have tried with STL, converting it to different formats using Freecad (iges, step and dwg) but without any luck. It always ends up looking like on the picture. However, it looks fine in meshmixer, 3D builder, and Freecad for that sake.

I don't need to edit in fusion, I just need to import it while looking like what meshmixer shows me, nothing else...

Is there any cheap trick to do this?

Best regards,

Mogens

Hello,

Please change the settings of "Visual Style" and "Mesh Display" and see if they make any difference. Once you uncheck "Face Groups" under "Mesh Display", you could assign material and appearance to your mesh body.

Thanks,

Hi, thanks for the quick reply!

That does not help. The issue is that when importing the STL, Fusion changes the file. As you might see in "capture.png", there are holes for M3 nuts, and they are totally screwed up. Changing the view will not fix that. (I have tried your methods though, just to rule it out)

Best regards,

Hello,

I was not aware of the difference. It would be good if you can send me (marshal dot tu at autodesk dot com) the stl file for investigation.

Thanks,

Marshal

Mesh to Brep and then doing a change of display settings as told, did the trick! Thanks a lot!
