Still serious problems, but project too big to upload

I'm having a serious problems with my project (the Joint errors that started back with the June 25th Fusion upgrade) and I'd really like to upload my project so that someone on the Fusion 360 team can take a look and see if they can determine what's wrong and hot to fix it. The previous suggestion to do a Fusion.RebuildOccurrences actually did nothing. The problems persist,

However, my project is larger than the maximum allowed to upload. It's around 109 MB. Yeah, I know, it's ridiculously HUGE.

Is there any way that I can make a version of my project accessible to someone on the Fusion team so they can take a look? After all, it's actually out on their servers. If not, might there be some way that I can "send" it to them?

Just add "them" to your project.  You will need to determine who "them" is 😀

Perhaps @jeff_strater can find someone to help.

How do I get in touch with Mr. Strater or get his attention in  this forum post so that I can discuss the issue with him?

Just put an@ in front of his user name: @jeff_strater .  You can ping any of the Autodesk employees (or other forum users) like this.  @Phil.E may also be able to help.

Thank you.

I'm assuming that those two pings you just did SHOULD get their attention. Hopefully I'll get some response.

@jeff.strater , could you please take a look at this topic and let me know if you or someone else in the Fusion 360 team could take a look at my design file to see if you could determine what's wrong and how it could possibly get fixed? I'll need to get an email address for you or that other person so that I can make the file accessible to be viewed and analyzed, since it's too large to attach for upload.

Don't worry. I'm sure Jeff will be along when he gets a few minutes. He DOES have duties other than sitting on the forum constantly.

@RogerInHawaii - I have been on vacation for a few days, sorry for the delay.  If you want to invite me to your hub, you can do so at jeff.strater@autodesk.com.  Or, you can share a link and just PM me the link, and I can download it.

But, I need to set expectations correctly.  Debugging a > 100MB design is not a "few minutes" kind of task.  We are definitely interested in the problems you are experiencing, in case they do reveal a bug in Fusion joints.  However, I do not have unlimited time to help you out.  If you want to help us out in this task, the best thing you can do is to try to narrow down the problem as much as possible.  If you can reproduce the problem in a version that only has a few components and joints in it, it may lead us to find the problem that much more quickly, understand some workaround that might get you past your stuck point, and also help others that may be seeing similar problems.

Also, a very clear problem description will also go a long way toward helping identify the problem.  A good problem description would be something of the form:  Open this design.  Activate sub-component "xyz".  Add a Revolute joint between these two components, selecting these two geometry pieces.  Save the design, go into the parent, and do "Get Latest", and notice that component X and Z are out of position, with lots of pictures indicating the obvious problems you are seeing.  A screencast/video that shows the problem can also be very helpful, as long as it is kept to a reasonable length.  There is definitely an art to a good bug video.  Don't show more than necessary:  If I had $5 for each video I've had to sit through where they start with an empty design and create the entire thing from scratch, only to show the problem at 5:45 in the video, I would be retired with you in Hawaii...

So, feel free to invite me to your project, I'll try to take a look at it as I can.

Jeff, Thank you, thank you,  thank you.

I will indeed come up with a very clear explanation. It may take me some time, but I'll definitely work on it.
By the way, this is related to the "Joint" problem that began back with the June 25th upgrade issue. The problems started in my design shortly after that (the first day following the upgrade that I got back to work on this particular design), but I didn't notice the problem until some time later since I was working on just a small part of the design and wasn't looking at the full extent of the timeline.

As far as trying to create a smaller design that exhibits the issue, I had tried that. I even tried just exporting a portion of the big design and that smaller section doesn't exhibit the problem. It does seem to me to be somehow related to how ridiculously large my design is, maybe exceeding some array bounds in the Fusion 360 program perhaps?

Anyway, I will get back to you when I have a nice clear description of the problem and its symptoms.

Again: THANK YOU

I hope you had a great vacation. Maybe take the next one out here in Hawaii and I'll treat you to a luau. 🙂

Jeff deserves vacation more than anyone I know...for constantly, and civilly, putting up with us F360 scallywags.

Jeff,

I just invited you to my project, so you should be able to open up and take a look at the designs. It's my Mercury Space Capsule project, the Friendship 7 version.

I'm attaching a pdf which describes the issue I've encountered. I hope it's clear enough. Feel free to shoot me any questions if it's not. I'll do my best to clarify.

Thanks for the invite and the detailed description.  We will try to investigate these issues as we can.  Appreciate the time spent here to help us debug this issue.
