Hello
Im running into a problem that I thougt was easy to fix. But not...
When I design a sheet metal component, and lets say that one flange isnt possible to manufactor irl. I have searched for a sollution to split the component/body to make two details that we later weld toghetter. But I cant make it. Anyone know how to fix this?
Can you post your model and a video of what you are trying to do? I was able to split a sheet metal component into two separate bodies in a simple case:
Thanks for replay but that feature dont work in this case. I just want to separate one flange as marked at the picture. Is there any easy way to do that? Of course I can sketch 2 separate drawings but it would be great if its possible to split it directly.
no, I don't think that you can chop off just one flange like that. Where, exactly would you want the split to be? Right at the bend, or up a ways? There is a rule that a flange has to have a minimum amount of material past the bend, so if you are willing to cut that flange off by that much past the bend, you can do it:
Okey thanks for answer. I want to split it at the bend. Its not possible to manufactor this box irl (it will crash with the toolmount at our pressbrake) so I need to make it in 2 separate parts that we weld together. I Think it would be a really useful feature to have the option to split at bends. If I sketch this as 2 separate parts it take some time to make the angles at the topcorners and it will not be exactly the same as the parametric flangetool. Because I need to cut the angles after I made the flanges.
