Split error

Hi Folks,

I hit a slag while working with the attached file.

Using: Patch->Create->Offset

          Modify->Split Body

(Splitting "Body 5" and "6 (1)" ).

I get the following error:

Error: Split5
Compute Failed

No intersection between tangent(s) and split tool

What am I doing wrong??

Thanks in advance.

It looks to me that the "Extend splitting tool" option in the split body dialogue fails to do it's job.

When the dialogue appears "Extend splitting tool" is enabled.

When the splitting tool is than selected it is disabled at the same time.

When it is re-enabled it looks like in  the preview it should actually work, but then does not.

So, you'll have to extend the splitting tool manually in the patch workspace.

I'll file a bug on this one.  Yes, manually extending the surface body seems to work, but the automatic extension does not.  Thanks for sharing the model.

TL,

Thanks as always!

(The screen casts are so helpful).

A simple enough solution now that I know it's not me.

Jeff,

Glad I could help with the shared file/ head scratchier.

Got the same error, but in "Extend" I can't select any edges.

Ole,

To be honest I haven't had to use this function since I used Trips suggestion to go around the problem.

That did get me through my project, but I'm not sure it will help in your situation.

It was a bug, several updates have happened in the meantime, I would maybe report it again as a bug.

I'd suggest you create your own thread and share the model and maybe create a screencast. It might be a different situation after all.
