split a meshbody into logical parts automatically

Hi everyone,

i have a file that I'd like to convert to solid in multiple part to edit it and ultimately print. The file is in fbx format that fusion can convert and use, which gives a meshbody. now the thing is, I managed to automatically split the meshbody into multiple "logical" parts (like a human would do, see the selected body in the screenshot as an exemple). i think these subsets of faces already exist somehow in the original file (that i didn't made, but they are not face groups as far as i know). Now i would like to do the same with other files from the same source but the problem is I don't remember how i did it the first time... I attached a screenshot of the end result, and the original file. maybe you can help me figure it out.

Thanks for the help !

Why not use the mesh as reference to model from scratch?

That is simple geometry and the quality would be much better.

This model is only part of a bigger file, but yeah that's an option

Did you notice that there is not a single arc in the mesh.  Not one!

No Fillets, no cylinders, no spheres, no tangencies?

All straight lines and planar triangles.

yeah it's a low poly model. maybe i'll have to make a new model from scratch, but i'd like to find out what procedure i did to separate the parts, at least for my knowledge.

thank you very much, how did you do it ? did you unstitched everything and manually stitched the face that belongs to the same part ?
