I’ve been working on creating hoses and wires using sweeps and 3D fit point splines. I’m struggling to get the spline perpendicular to the starting sketch. The starting sketch comes first, so I can’t create a plane along path to do this. My cross section sketches are always a single circle or 2 or more circles slightly overlapping - imagine a ribbon cable or 2 welding hoses.
The problem I have is getting the spline perpendicular to the sketch. I think it should be done with a perpendicular constraint between the spline and the sketch (circle(s)). However, fusion won’t let me click on them both while the constraint tool is active.
Any help is much appreciated!

Use a suitable sketch Constraint between the Spline Handle and the first sketch center point. The Animated GIF will show this. Attach your model if you need further help.

I'm still hoping someone can help me with this issue? Can you open the design from the link? The issue is with various segments of the welding hoses. I am unable at apply a perpendicular constraint between the spline curve and the start or end plane.

Hi! Please bear with me if I misunderstand the requirement. I suspect Solid Sweep might help this case. Instead of a circular profile, create a solid sphere at the start of the path. Then use Solid Sweep option to sweep the sphere along the path. This might give you a desirable result.

That’s a neat idea. I haven’t tried solid sweep yet. The actual issue is creating good transitions between one segment of hose to the other - perhaps solid sweep will work well there. I’ll try it out and report back.

Have you tried making two, two point splines. Make the spline handles co linear. Then make the endpoints coincident. Might work

Consider applying <Constrains><Curvature> constrain ... to two connected by coincident point curves.
