Snapping problem

Hi all

Is there any options to avoid "that" snaping to model edge instead of grid?

Its really uncomfortable that you cant avoid that 😞

Its also oblivious that snapping to grid is switched only after you place first point of the line or rectangle, etc.

holding down the "ctrl" key unfortunately disables both grid snapping and auto-constraint.  I guess you can right click the offending body and make it "unselect-able," just don't forget to go back and make it selectable again when you want to do something with it.

Just want to mention a fine point of fusion that is sometimes missed by new users.  "snapping" and "constraining" are not the same thing.  Snapping is passive.   the point is placed at a particular spot, but there is nothing to prevent it from moving from that spot.  When a "constraint" is placed, a relationship is set up between the 2 objects that fusion will try to maintain.

@Anonymous, yes, current sketch has no option to disable snapping to edges. Snapping to grip has lowest priority comparing to other objects, but it should work as long as it needs, or it's an issue we need improve it. I'm not very sure about your case. But add below example for reference. 

Currently sketching only snap to grip cross points, so left case as shown in below image, the grip cross points aren't on the edge, so it couldn't snap to the grip cross point. But in the right image, it could snap on edge and grip cross point at the same time.

@Maowen_Zhang, your conflating the idea of "snap" with the idea of "constraint".  That's going to be confusing for new users.  It's snaps to the grid, but applies a constraint to the edge geometry.   The conceptual difference is very important in fusion.

Yes, snapping and constraint are two things.I assume we only talk about snapping issue here (not constraints).  Snapping / inferencing is only used by geometries creation & modification commands (line, spline, rectangle, offset, dragging, etc.). If snapping to an object which is suitable to create constraint, then will add constraint automatically.  Such as snapping to edge (existing sketch geometries). If snapping to an object (such as grip cross point) which is not suitable for adding constraint, then no constraint will added. Thanks!
