I’m having problems figuring out a workflow within Fusion to do what I want. I need to export a DXF file for a PCB layout designer- all seems good there. I create a sketch, project the locations of specific components, project the fastener heads and bosses and areas of the case that support the PCB so I can indicate keep-out areas, trim everything up to within the board outline, and export a DXF. It works.
Now, I also need to provide an annotated drawing where I can indicate through notes what is a keep out area, what is a limited height of component area, and so on, to help the layout engineer interpret the DXF. The obvious way to do that (to me) would be to make a drawing directly based on the sketch I generated, but no can do. Drawings only want solid bodies.
I don’t want to create a drawing that includes the entire (complex) case, fasteners, and all parts that impact the board- all I need are the dozen or so projected lines I created from those objects in the sketch.
I can open the DXF in other CAD programs and annotate there, but it seems I should be able to do this within Fusion- am I missing something? The only thing I can think of is to extrude the sketch to make solids and generate a drawing, but that seems like a real kluge.
I can open some of the files in AutoCad 360 to add annotations, but the import in that program seems buggy and not all of the drawings I need will open successfully- AutoCad 360 creates the drawing, but when I go to look at it it is blank. All the Fusion DXF’s open fine in other programs.
Is there any way to create a drawing from a sketch?
Mostly Mac- currently M1 MacBook Pro
