Sketch - shades of blue

What do the four different shades or tones of blue within a sketch interior mean?

1. second lightest tone blue when view sketch (I assume it means the sketch is close looped)

2. lightest tone blue when hover over sketch (I assume it means the sketch is available for selection, say to move or delete)

3. second darkest tone blue when I click the interior of the sketch

4. darkest tone blue when select certain corners

And why does the sketch interior turn darkest blue when I use the selection tool (window) and highlight the upper left or lower right corners of the sketch but not the other corners?

you have basically captured the difference in these shades.  They are meant to just indicate the different states:

  • "pre selection" is intended to show what would be selected if you click
  • "selection" is intended to show what is actually selected
  • the profile color (light blue) just shows what areas are identified as profiles in the sketch
  • Not sure what you mean by "darkest tone blue when select certain corners", but lines/curves in the sketch also have a pre-selection and selection color.

Thank you, Jeff. But to finish it off could I ask you to look at the sketch I attached to my original post and  try to answer this: Why does the sketch interior turn darkest blue when I use the selection tool (I used 'window' but I do not think the selection tool type matters) to highlight the upper left or lower right corner sections of the sketch, but this does not occur when I highlight the other corners?  And what is this darkest of the four blues telling me?

Your going to need to be more precise with either some screen shoots or a screen cast.

I think what your seeing is the final color for a selected profile.  the difference being in how your performing the window select.  when your selecting right to left, the profile gets selected (right to left selects anything that crosses the window boundary), and when your selecting left to right it doesn't (left to right only selects things completely in the window  boundary).

but just guessing.

you'll have to explain a bit more what your question is.  If I use the window selection tool, it looks like this:

if I just click on the profile, it looks like this:

I verified that the blue is the same using the Mac Digital Color Meter tool:

The only difference is that the window select also selects the lines around the region, so they, also show up blue.

When addressing the question of the blue color of the sketch in the history bar, they don't respond to the question I asked.  Why do the menus change when the sketch icon is blue, what causes it it turn blue, how do I control what shows up, and where is this in the documentation?  4 Questions.  All demonstrated in this Loom
