Sketch Move Issue

I'm assuming this has to do with points on the curves being selected but I can't seem to delete them (or not select them) to move this sketch item. It's becoming maddening! Any tips??

@Anonymous,

It's hard to say without looking at the model, so if you can share it here, it will be helpful.  Just do File -> Export and choose the default (f3d) file type, then attach the f3d file to this thread.

But, most likely, what is happening is that you are selecting arc centers when you move, or else there are constraints between the geometry selection and the stuff that moves unexpectedly.  But, I can answer more clearly once I take a look at the design.

From my perspective - that geometry should be on 3 different sketches.

And there appears to be a lack of symmetry on each profile that I would expect to see.

Are you using tangent constraints on all arcs?

Are you using dimensions?

In general - it us preferable to add fillets as Placed Features rather than as sketch elements.

Yeah, I'm pretty certain I'm selecting arc centers from fillets.... Putting these all on separate sketch layers just seemed like a real pain. We're getting dozens of these laser cut and I was just trying to put a quick .dxf together. Model attached here.

I was hoping there might be some secret way of more or less 'flattening' a sketch which does away with those floating points that are accidentally being selected.

Also as for putting these parts on 3 different sketches, it really makes exporting a .dxf super cumbersome. Is there a way to flatten sketches into just 1 dxf export? I've never been able to solve that issue.

Thanks for sharing the design, sorry it took some time to get back to you.

Your suspicion is correct - when you window select, you are getting center points of arcs from areas away from what you think you are selecting, and those points will get moved as well.  There are a couple ways to avoid that:  selection filters and just selecting curves manually.

I also discovered that you have duplicate geometry in some of these cases.  Often that is from canceling a Paste operation.  Ideally, you should clean those up as well.  It's a not-very-good behavior in Fusion, so I apologize for that.

Here is a screencast of some of this information explained (with audio):

Super helpful info. The selection filter is exactly what I needed.

THANK YOU!
