Sketch->project/include failure to perform

Hello all. I am still learning Fusion 360, with the help of the online tutorials here https://support.shopbottools.com/training/tutorials

I have gone over this several times and I've looked at different places for an answer or another way to fix it, but I am unable to project my sketch.  I will select the parts necessary, hit OK, and then nothing projects. It shows that I have a new sketch, but will not actually project, even after I hit stop sketch. I'm about to tear my hair out here. I don't know if I'm missing a step or if the program is being weird.

Can you share your model and perhaps create a screencast of the behavior ?

While the video quality of that recording is not great ( there is an Autodesk Screencast utility that integrates into Fusion 360) it looks to me the projection into the 2nd sketch works fine.

If you hide the 1st sketch sou should see the projected items.

Or share your model 😉

I don't see anything wrong in your file. When I create a new sketch and then project sketch objects from the 1st sketch into it and then hide the 1st sketch then I can see all the projected purple items in the 2nd sketch.

That is what I saw in your video as well, so I am not exactly shoe what the problem is.

I'm trying to  project under the same thickness of the material (if you open up bodies) and extrude it as a new body. This is for the shelves, kick, and back of the piece.

Aha! Now I understand what you are trying to do.

You would probably want to start that second sketch ion the surface of the side plate, which is Body2 in your design.

Then you would project the needed sketch elements into the new sketch and extrude from there.

But you don't even need a second sketch!

You can use the existing sketch to extrude the necessary board from there.

1. Unhide the three bodies. Make sure the sketch is also visible.

2. Select the extrude (or press/pull) command.

3. Select the sketch profile you want to extrude.

4. Change the Start condition from "Profile plane" to"From object"

5. Select the inside face of body2.

6. Change Extend from "Distance" to "To object"

7. Change Operation from "Join" to "New Body"

8. Click "OK"

Done!

I'd recommend to check back here on the forum frequently as you progress through your project. That'll prevent unneeded frustration and headaches ( to a degree).
