sketch: deleting repeated items?

is there a simple way to select and delete the repeated features in a sketch pattern?

  • deleting the pattern constraint leaves the repeated elements behind.
  • i can't enter '1' in the 'Quantity' box of the constraint edit panel.
  • there doesn't seem to be any way to select all the elements in the pattern.

i guess a workaround is to change the pattern quantity to '2' and then delete the pattern constraint, then manually select and delete the other element. that works, and maybe i'm missing something obvious, but it seems like there could be a whole slew of feature that could make this easier:

  1. right-click menu on the constraint (or any of the items in the pattern) to select all the items in a pattern.
  2. right-click menu on the constraint (or any of the items in the pattern) to delete the constraint ALONG WITH the repeated elements.
  3. allow '1' in the pattern quantity box

I've put that suggestion in the Idea station months ago and it's been tagged with "Future Consideration"

It never hurts to add a vote to it 😉

Hi spongman,

you could select the entities in the pattern either in sketching mode or outside of sketching mode and just delete.  There's an unintended bug here though.

In either case where deleting all the pattern elements will pop a warning message.  This shouldn't happen if there

if you delete outside of the sketch mode, editing and then stopping the sketch will clear the message

if you delete within the sketch mode, just stopping the sketch will clear this.

I've logged a bug for this

hope this helps.

Yeah I understand that you can delete the repeated entities manually, but this hardly classifies as "simple" if here are many (say 100) of them and they're mixed in with a whole bunch of other entities in the sketch. Fixing the bug you mentioned doesn't really address the usability elephant in the room here.
