simulation: apply constraint to part of surface

Is there an option to apply a constraint (e.g. frictionless or fixed) to a part of a surface?

Asume a beam with a flat bottom surface. The beam is supported on both ends. If aply a constranit I can only select the whole bottom surface, not just the ends. ( in my case the beam is about 1,5 m long and will be supported over the first  and last 4 cm's)

a workaround would be to create a small surface at the ends and extrude it just a little bit, but i am afreight that will cause problems in the mesh. another workaround would be to make an assembly for the simulation.

But ideally I would just choose to apply the constraint to the ends, maybe just creat a sketch and be able to select that skecth as the surface to aply the constraint to.

Hello,

Constraints is possible to place on whole face only (not part of face) but you can modify model – to use Split Face command – and then select a new face for a constraint.

I attached a video with steps:

  1. In design prepare surface/workface for split
  2. Use Split Face command
  3. In Simulation environment select the new face
