Simplify complex Automotive Model

I have a SUPER detailed model of a vehicle that I was able to retrieve from the manufacturer.  It includes every single component individually modeled for the actual creation of the car (every bolt, nut, washer, chassis rail, door handle, etc) as individual items.  Its amazing BUT all I'm trying to do is design an interior layout for upfitting the van into an RV/Adventure van so I would prefer the whole vehicle to be a dumb, volumetric, place holder since I don't plan to do much (if any at all) modifications to the vehicle itself.

There are over 30 STP files all loaded into this one project file so not only is it too detailed, its too heavy, and slow to really use for my needs.  Does anyone have suggestions on how to simplify this file (in photoshop terms I'd ideally want to "flatten" it all into a single simplified 3D model) so I can work with it and add the custom components I actually care about (like adding in a bed, cabinets, batteries, solar panels etc) on top of the "locked" vehicle model?

Hi,

Without seeing some examples of the files it is not possible to give any hints.
For example, is there a stp of the entire body?

Yes thank you - its the same problem this fellow was having https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-360-design-validate/transit-van-model-stp-file-displaying-stra...

Its just a giant heavy mesh model 😞

When I spin the model the graphics smooth out a little bit (as shown below) but when its stationary its a million lines everywhere, the same as the other post.
