Hey all,
I'm new to Fusion 360 and trying to develop a workflow for designing some blank signet rings. I have used a technique where you create the profiles of the ring, loft, and then extrude cut the centre. However, this technique makes the ring shank rounded, whereas I would like it flat/straight.
I have attempted to replicate this video (From 0:00 - 1:55) that shows a workflow technique which achieves the flat ring shank, however it is from Rhinoceros 3D and I am struggling to translate some of the tools to Fusion.
In particular, I’m not sure what the equivalent of the ‘extend curve’ tool is, and I’m also not sure about how the surface loft will work.
Is this technique capable of being replicated in Fusion, and if so would anyone be able to help me figure out these steps?
Many thanks,
Levi

fusion isn't going to have all the tools available that are shown in that video, so the workflow will be different. but you should be able to model a basic ring. do you have any pics, hand sketches to show what you want. posting your attempt as a .f3d would be a good idea also.
Thanks for the reply!
Attached are a couple references of rings and shapes which are exactly what I'm trying to go for.
As for my attempts, I will upload a .f3d when I can a bit later tonight. However, I have mainly been trying to sketch the outline of the ring, as seen in the video. I tried to 3D sketch splines to attach the shapes, but when I went to loft it wouldn't work because of the geometry. I need to somehow create an arc between the circle sketches on the bottom, to the circle faces on the top.
Here's one I did after Gooogling signet ring and before watching the video😀 It shouldn't be too hard to adapt it to an octogon.
