Shrink both ends of a cube

I am brand new to drafting of any kind and expect this to be an easy question. I am trying to recreate a mounting bracket for my lawn mowers air filter.  Watching tutorials and reading this forum I have gotten to the point that can be seen below.  However, I now need change the size of the main body of the design.  I tried going back in the timeline and editing the sketch of the square.  This doesn't work because it only removes material from one end.  I need to shrink both ends.  I have had sucess using constraints with sketches but can't seem to get it to work on already extruded objects. I assume I am doing it wrong haha.  I have also attached my sketch file in case it makes it easier, but I already know my timeline is a mess as this is my first ever drawing but I welcome any and all constructive criticism.

Thanks,

  Dylan

You are obviously unwilling, or unable, to edit the location of the bosses and holes you currently have, I propose the method I outline in the Screencast.  A couple of things you should learn.  It is not advisable to make the Browser Folders invisible, turn off individual entries instead.  Second, pay attention to the Yellow in your timeline and when it occurs, solve the issue.  If you hover over it you can find the cause and correct it then.

By the way, this is a Model not a Drawing.  A Drawing is a 2D representation of a 3D Model.

That timeline and sketch are great.  Trying to learn as I go along so anything you would suggest focusing on to learn to isolate and clean up like you did. I am guessing you copied the different elements and pasted them into a new build, is that right?  Or did you clean it up in place.  Thanks for taking the time to do that you got those skills I dream of and am working towards.

Wow yes! That was so helpful you have no idea.  It sounds like moving the holes and bosses to its proper location and then trimming the other side is a better method?   I just couldn't figure out how to move those elements and it seems easier in my mind to trim both sides instead.  I watched your screencast several times already and plan to watch and pause as I work through the exact same steps.  You make it look so easy 🙂
