sheet metal flange aluminium tab

I'm creating a design using sheet metal tools and I'm getting a weird tab at the intersection of 2 bends. I understand this is probably due to the sheet metal rules that i'm using, however i have tried changing it from 'trim to bend' to 'round' but it hasn't made a difference. Am i missing something?

Its shape is appropriate for making a box as a sheet metal fabrication.

Since the box is originally made in this shape, there would be a gap without the protruding part.

So, if it is not necessary for the design, you can remove this part by (EXTRUDE) or (Press Pull).

(There may be a way to remove it with a sheet metal function, but unfortunately I do not know of it.)

Do you have a picture of similar real world geometry that you are trying to model?

ok understood. i was sure i saw a tutorial on sheet metal where the corners round off before returning to the original dimensions, rather than creating a step.

I used the cut tool as @Bunga777 suggested
