Sheet metal - Corner mitre not working??

Hi everyone!

A complete noobish over here.

I have to figure out how to fix the following:

FabianaBBUSCK_0-1724125636401.png

It is probably because of the way I'm working, some operation must be wrong or in the wrong order.

After I create my top edge flanges, I create a sketch on the left side one to later extrude it and cut a piece of it, because I need the flange to be sloping.

The I proceed to create another flange starting from the recently cut edge (green) and also the other two not cut edges (yellow)

And the mitred corner does not happen 😞

My design methodology must be wrong, isn't it? Otherwise the software would be doing it by itself?

Or there could be steps to get it done I am not aware of.

Any help is much appreciated.

Cheers,

Fabi

Hi,

Have you tried a manual adjustment of the flat pattern to fix this? Trim out the bits that intersect on the flat pattern

and then refold it.

Cheers

Hi,

See attached my proposal

The corner mitre is not working because you cut one of the 3 bend flange make together

Adjust the mitre to 0.15*Thickness

I use the draft command to cut the flange and the 2 flange corner intersection

I got also the yellow warning for that flange but the flat pattern and unfold command work fine

Hi Drewpan!
I have not tried this, but it sounds very logical now that you mention it.
I would just need to get the right angle on the side of the flat pattern, so when I re fld the piece, the mitre is correct.
Am I on the right track?

Thanks for that!
It actually works, and I am going to replicate the method on the other flange to make sure I got it right.
