separation of sketch from body

When I select a body surface and apply a sketch, all goes as planned. However when I close the sketch if I move the body later the sketch is left behind. It seems to "re-attach" if I reopen it for further work. Maybe this is just an "as coded" property but it makes me uncomfortable.

Is there a way to associate the sketch to its surface so that they move together?

Thanks

You are missing a basic concept in Fusion 360 and that is the difference between a body and a component. My recommendation would be to familiarize yourself first with the difference between a component and a a body and then  with  Fusion 360 R.U.L.E #1

Hi,

Create sketch and body within a component and then move the component as needed.
However, it is better to position components using joints.

another point to understand here is the nature of the timeline.  Watch what happens when you move the body - it creates a Move feature in the timeline that occurs after the sketch and the extrude feature.  If you step back before that move, the sketch will coincide with the body again (because only the body has been moved).  When you edit the sketch, Fusion "rolls back" to the point in time when that sketch was created.  This is before that Move feature, which is why the body and the sketch appear to "come back together" when editing the sketch.  Edit of a sketch or feature is time-travel - Fusion takes you back in time to the point at which that sketch or feature was first created.

OK-thanks all for the replies. Been a while since I worked with 360 and forgot to check the component I was working with first. I redid the sketch assemblies within the body of the "flange" in this case and now everything moves as expected.
