Separate group components

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi,

I am a beginner with Fusion but I work on the design of a 3D printed prosthesis which was available on the internet as STL file. In Fusion I wanted to separate objects that have been saved as one body.

How can I generally separate a group in single components or bodies which I can select separately?

Thanks for your help

Sorry, the video is not helpful -- the menus are too hard to read and the cursor moves to quickly to see what is happening.

@grayed  Are you working with a STL (mesh) with multiple bodies that show as only one mesh body in fusion? If you are the screencast will not help. Also when you viewed the screencast did you make it full screen and you also have an option to run at half speed. But the screencast will only help for BREP bodies not a single mesh that contains multiple bodies.

If you have a mesh look at the separate option.

Thanks, Mark, I was looking full screen for grouped bodies, but will
have to find the half-speed.

The terminology that everybody except fusion uses for these separate mesh bodies are shells.  The separate command in the mesh environment that @HughesTooling  pointed out will be the tool you need.

Be warned, doing just about anything with mesh files in fusion is a pita.  It's not very good with them.  You may need to use mesh mixer for somethings.
