Separate a stl file into different parts

Hello everyone, i just started to use fusion 360 and i was using blender before, the thing is when i download a stl file from web which is a mechanical set of different pieces when i import it into the fusion 360 workbench i just a solid one piece, in blender you can separare it pressing P + separate by loose parts
How can i do the same in fusion 360?

Fusion doesn't do that properly.  You can use the "separate shells" function in mesh mixer (free), and then save the bodies out separately.  Then bring those into fusion.

 

one downside is that mesh mixer will triangulate a quad mesh.  Another downside is that working with mesh files in fusion is frustrating b/c fusion generally sucks at mesh editing.
