The function does not work any longer. I don't know if the Problem came with the big Fusion update beginning Nov. or with the update of cura?

What to do?

Thanks for the help!

A bit more detail or a screencast showing your steps you use to send the file to cura will help nail the problem down

I do have both mac and windows systems to work with.

With mac system no problem for the direct export to Cura 2.3.1 occurs.  All works as it should.

But with the windows system in does not. Workflow is the same. Select Make button > select 3D print > select body to export and make sure that cura is selected as 3D print Utility. Then hit ok and nothing happens! Is there something that need to be adjusted inside Windows or cura? On windows I need to launch cura manually and then I can do the import via stl files. But I found the direct export Option from Fusion very convenient.

Hope some can help me out here.

Thanks in advance

Best regards,

Rainer

I see the same behavior with Fusion 360 and Cura 2.4.0 Windows10 64bit. However, if I install Cura 15.04.6 it will open and slice/print the objects.

When only Cura 2.4.0 is installed, nothing opens when I select Make/3dprint/Send to 3D Print Utility/Cura. Looks like something changed in what Cura receives from Fusion 360.

It may just need the settings changed or added to it, hopefully one of the Fusion guys stops by, or It may need added to the idea station I don't know how to do I just stick with 15.04.6

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, I will probably stick with Cura 15.04.6 too until this gets smoothed
out. I was helping out a friend getting a local library's PrinterBot
working for a project with his son. I've been doing the save file dance
using OpenScad/Slic3r/Pronterface. I think I will update my personal
process to using Fusion/Cura over the next few prints.

It's worth sticking with fusion to cura It can only get better, The 3D printer stuff ADSK does will take over most of the programs people use, useing the ember sdk It's on the 3D printer sight ADSK has, Of the top of my head I cant rember where it is I will post the link soon, there is some interesting stuff there

I see the same behaviour between 2.6.2 & 15.04.6.. The version I had installed previously was older than 15.04.6 and that didn't show up in Fusion either. It would be nice if this got tidied up and Fusion recognised the latest version of Cura. 2.6.2 looks pretty good.

Cura won't even open on my computer Smiley Sad  It's looking for a drive that doesn't exist...

However, it shouldn't be too hard to make a batch file to run it from the command line: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/ultimaker/Sz7imswRk38

You guys should ping Ghostkeeper or BagelOrb at the Cura Github and file an issue.   When they changed codebase (at least a year, maybe closer to two) from daid's code there was a refocusing on Ultimaker machines though they still support everything.  The 15.x is daid's original code, the 2.x fork is redeveloped Ultimaker code on top of the Uranium framework.

https://github.com/Ultimaker/Cura

It's pretty good, I prefer Simplify 3D as the workflow allows me to more easily create and export full plates of parts.  The Cura engine is fantastic.

Good tip thanks... I'll probably switch to Simply3D if I get any more in depth into 3D printing than I am currently.

S3D is a bit spendy for hobby printing particularly when the slicing engine of the open source alternatives are just as good in many if not most cases.  And some can make a good argument on why they are better in some cases.  I bought S3D when it first came out and was skeptical/unconvinced for the first several revs but it showed promise.  I was printing 5-6 kg/wk at the time and it ultimately integrated well into the workflow.  These days I'm lucky to do a kg a month most of the time (the bubble certainly burst in that space).  Were I to do it now I likely wouldn't spend the money on S3D.  I'm glad I've got it now though.

The guys at Ultimaker will be keen to hear about the issue.  Even though they focus on the in house machines they still offer extensive support for other machines.  They've been good like that keeping to the open source spirit while focusing on developing the business and presumably making some money.  The backend of the Uranium framework is a good place to start looking at the issue.  It's the set of classes that handle communication with other apps.

The integration of the slicing engines to F360 is one of the best parts of the app.  Getting the latest Cura on Win to interface as expected is a must.

I have Cura v3.5.1 installed on my desktop machine.  However, when I use the Make/3d print command, Fusion tries to install v15xxx of Cura, but informs me that a later version is available for download.  (Note that I already have the latest version installed.)  If I agree to download via Fusion, it wants to install v3.2, which is NOT the latest version.  So, Fusion wants to restrict me to using an older version of Cura than I wish to.

It would appear to me that the simple way round this impasse is for the pathway to load whatever version of Cura one has installed is to put this into the initial settings or preferences folder, so pointing Fusion where to find Cura.  This would not need to be done online then, saving both time and bandwidth.  Unless someone knows how I can point fusion to using my installed version of Cura........

Keith.
