Is it possible to have more complex section analysis than just single plane? I like this feature especially for the ability to quick on/off without affecting editing history.
Right now for complex cross-sections I create a body, then "cut" or "intersect" that body with main model, then manually select faces and assign to them some different colored material. Like in the picture below.
The disadvantages of using of regular "Combine" operation instead of Section analysis are:
- Not a quick access to show/hide. I have to Suppress the feature by searching it in timeline.
- A have manually select faces that had been cut and assign to them some fake material to "highlight" them.
- If I forgot "Suppress that feature", it can be linked to further operations on timeline, so It will be impossible to suppress it later without suppressing successors.
- I have to move this "Combine" feature on timeline to see how it looks on different stages. But in the most cases it's impossible to do movement due to references. And I have to delete this feature, and create it again in another spot of time (with again manual highlighting of faces). It's annoying.
So, I would like to do it in a manner as Section Analysis does.
