Please attach a model that shows these issues.  If you do not know how to attach your Fusion 360 model follow these easy steps. Open the model in Fusion 360, select the File menu, then Export and save as a F3D or F3Z file to your hard drive. Then use the Attachments section, of a forum post, to attach it.

My advise would be to keep your sketches much simpler.  Constrain small sections as you go along, the create model features.  Use these model features to create matching mirrored features or patterns.  You will find Fusion 360 much more responsive if you follow these guidelines.

In addition to @jhackney1972  comments, I observe -

1. Blue lines (unconstrained geometry) should keep you awake at night.

2. I see an enormous amount of repeated sketch geometry.  Keep sketches simple and Pattern Features instead of sketch elements.

3. Make use of obvious symmetry about the Origin.

4. Most Fillets should be done as placed Features rather than in sketch.

5. Symmetry constraints should rarely be needed. (See #2 and 3.)

Any time you see repeated sketch geometry - there is probably a computationally more efficient technique.

What are you modeling? Do you have a picture of something similar from the real world?

If you Attach a picture of something similar from the real world - I suspect someone here will demonstrate a technique that is farrrr less work.

hi all ,

i have realised my errors with not using constraints properly, and am revisiting my drawing from scratch. i have attached a copy of what i am trying to replicate. i am a modeller who builds 1/350 scale ships and as such often need to build some steps or pieces of equipment this i do by doing a drawing and transfer it to a piece of brass sheet then etch it out. thus i am trying the drawing part using fusion 360. to produce the negative print for transferring to a transparency. the sketch is a basic 5 step ships ladder in 1/350 scale.

Keep your sketches simple.

Use multiple sketches rather than one complex sketch.

Use logical dimensions that you can actually measure with your calipers or scale.

See Attached.

Note the color change of sketch when fully defined.
