Scaling sheet metal components

Is there a proper method to scale (up or down) a sheet metal component?  It seems as though once I scale a component I lose the ability to unfold or make a flat pattern and it doesn't maintain thickness even though I have the sheet metal rules applied?

Design as a parametric model and then simply edit the parameters.

File>Export and then Attach your *.f3d file here if you can't figure it out.
